AI CodeOps vs Bito
AI CodeOps vs Bito, as of October 2026: Bito's AI Code Review Agent in Git, the IDE and the CLI next to AI agents that write, test and gate each change.
Bito and AI CodeOps both use AI on code changes, from different ends. Bito's AI Code Review Agent reviews the pull requests your team opens, with context from the rest of your system, and it also reviews code in the editor and the terminal. AI CodeOps is a team of agents that writes a change, tests it, reviews it and holds it at a gate until people approve it. This page explains the difference, compares facts from Bito's own pages, and says when Bito is the better choice.

What Bito is
Bito's docs say its AI Code Review Agent runs system-aware code reviews on pull requests in GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, and that it also supports self-managed GitHub and GitLab (Bito docs). A review gives a summary with the type of change and the effort to review it, and line-level suggestions you can accept in one click. It uses tools such as Snyk, Whispers and detect-secrets to look for vulnerabilities (product page). When you give negative feedback on a kind of comment, Bito can turn it into a custom review rule (custom rules). The same reviews run in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf and JetBrains IDEs (IDE) and in a CLI (CLI).
Bito also sells other products, such as its Governor model router and AI Architect (pricing). This page compares the code review agent.
What AI CodeOps is
AI CodeOps runs AI software-engineering sessions in your browser. You describe a task. Agents plan it, write the change against your repository, run your tests in a sandbox and review the result (multi-agent code review). The change waits at a release gate until tests pass, no high or critical finding is open and the required approvals are in.

Where Bito is the better choice
- Your developers write the code and you want a reviewer on every pull request. Bito's agent is built for that. AI CodeOps reviews only the changes made in its own sessions, not pull requests people open directly on the Git host.
- You want the same review in the editor and the terminal. Bito has IDE extensions and a CLI that works with Git, SVN, Mercurial and Perforce. AI CodeOps is browser-only.
- You want scanner output in the review. Bito runs tools such as Snyk and detect-secrets. AI CodeOps has an AI security review but no CVE scanner or secrets scanner (security and SBOM).
- You need self-managed GitHub. Bito supports it. AI CodeOps does not support GitHub Enterprise Server.
- You want SOC 2 now. Bito says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant. AI CodeOps is not certified yet.
Where AI CodeOps fits
- The work, not only the review. Agents plan, build and test the change, so the pull request arrives with tests already run.
- A gate on by default. A pull request opens only when tests pass, the AI review completed and no high or critical finding is open (quality gates). A code change also needs an approval from someone other than the person who launched it, when the team has another approver.
- Gitea and Forgejo. AI CodeOps connects to both, with a personal access token.
- A signed record and capped spend. Each change has a signed evidence pack, and spend caps apply per workspace and per workflow (cost controls).
Using both
AI CodeOps opens ordinary pull requests, so Bito reviews them like any other. A team could let AI CodeOps write and gate routine changes while Bito reviews everything people write by hand. Start with the quickstart, or compare another reviewer in AI CodeOps vs Sourcery.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI CodeOps replace Bito?
Not always. Bito's AI Code Review Agent reviews the pull requests your team opens, and also reviews code in the IDE and the CLI. AI CodeOps writes the change with AI agents, tests and reviews it, and holds it at a gate.
Which Git hosts does each support?
Bito lists GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, and self-managed GitHub and GitLab. AI CodeOps connects to GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Gitea and Forgejo.
Can Bito block a merge?
Its docs describe request-changes comments that work with your Git host's merge rules, such as requiring conversations to be resolved. AI CodeOps blocks earlier, by not opening the pull request until its gate passes.
How is Bito priced?
Its AI Code Reviews plans are priced per seat, with 5,000 lines per seat per month included and $5 per 1,000 lines after that. AI CodeOps is free during the open beta.
